Prince Harry makes fun of King Charles as he receives Living Legends of Aviation award

Prince Harry appeared to make a joke about his dad King Charles when he was inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation recently. The Duke of Sussex was honored alongside other greats, including Buzz Aldrin, who was one of the first people to step foot on the moon.

The royal seemed to make a dig at his dad when he made a joke about him in his speech on Friday. Prince Harry was honored at the Living Legends of Aviation event last week and looked back on his first flight ever. The 39-year-old lightheartedly mentioned his dad, King Charles, after he was presented with the award. Actor John Travolta, who hosted the night, handed over the prestigious award to the dad-of-two.

Prince Harry jokes about his dad as he joins aviation legends

The Duke joked about his first ever flight experience.

He said: “I was maybe seven or eight years old, Wessex Helicopter, and I jumped into it very excited.

“And then my father jumped in behind the controls, and I was terrified.”

The audience erupted into laughter, with the clip now being posted on Twitter.

Despite Prince Harry’s joke about his dad King Charles at the Living Legends of Aviation event, the monarch does have experience as a pilot. He even trained as a jet pilot in the Royal Air Force in the 1970s – years before Harry was even born.

The Duke followed in his father’s footsteps and served as a helicopter pilot for 10 years, and was promoted to Captain. After, he was given military titles from the Queen, but these were then stripped when he left The Firm in 2020. He and Meghan Markle wanted to live independently of the palace with their children.

But the dad-of-two also brought up his mom, the late Princess Diana. He referenced the famous moment in Hollywood history where Diana danced with Travolta at the White House in 1985.

He told the movie star: “I was just a one-year-old when you danced with my mum at the White House, and now look at us.”

“Now I see you again under a new circumstance, on a new stage,” replied Travolta.

“I was maybe 7 or 8 years old, Wessex Helicopter, and I jumped into it very excited…

And then my father jumped in behind the controls… and I was terrified” 😭💀

Charles to undergo treatment in hospital

It comes as His Majesty is set to undergo treatment in hospital for a large prostate.

Last week, there was a double royal bombshell, when it was announcement within two hours how Kate Middleton was in hospital and Charles will need to seek treatment himself. The Princess of Wales has undergone abdominal surgery, and will need to stay in the hospital for 14 days. However, any news on what type of surgery she had has not been released by Buckingham Palace. After around 90 minutes, The Firm then announced King Charles is set to have his own procedure for his benign condition.

The king has been ordered to rest and has cancelled upcoming engagements. He received a diagnosis on Wednesday following a check-up appointment when he began experiencing symptoms.

A third royal has also given fans an update in their health scare, too. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, announced on Sunday she has been diagnosed with skin cancer. This is her second bout of the disease after being treated for breast cancer in the summer, several months ago.
